Fish feed extruder can be divided into 2 types: one is twin screw extruder, the other is single screw extruder among which includes dry type single screw machine and wet type ones. In this production line, we adopt dry type single screw extruder to complete the whole puffing process of aquatic feed pellets, which is the main reason that we call it “Automatic Dry Type Fish Feed Plant”. It has the same application with wet extrusion plant (manufacturing fish feed in commercial aquaculture, providing balanced nutrition for farmed fish.), but with smaller production capacity (180-200kg/h). Therefore it is mostly favored by owners of small scale fish farms that have lower requirement on the processing technique and output.
180-200 KG/H Dry Type Fish Feed Production Technology:
Application: single screw fish feed plant is mainly applied to produce floating pellets for small- & medium-sized fish farms/ponds (If the pellets of feed can float, it usually means that the ingredients have been cooked). 180-200kg/h technology, being a small scale production line, will enable the fish farmers to manufacture their own requirement of fish feed pellets on site without the additional cost of distribution and marketing steps.
Formulation of Catfish Feed:
Processed feeds are formulated to meet basic nutritional requirements of fish. Giving feed of the correct nutritional quality for the specified age of fish to supply with proper vitamins and minerals:
- fish meal 50%, peanut bran 20%, corn powder10%, sweet potato powder 20%, Vitamin 2%. This formulation is to feed the young catfish.
- dried silkworm chrysalis meal 30%, fish meal 10%. Peanut bran 15%, sweet potato powder 23%, eggs 20%, Vitamin and others 2%. This formuation is to feed the young catfish.
- fish meal 30-35%, bean cake 9%, sweer potato powder: 1%, wheat flour 10%, raemz ramz 45-50%. This formulation is to feed the big catfish and other food fish.
PS: as different species have different nutritional requirements, the formulation is for reference only. Only with correct formulation and quality machines can commercial pond farmers produce nutritionally complete diets (pellets).
Process: The feed is crucial for the best and the most efficient development of the fish production. Generally, aquatic feeds should be ground, sifted, screened, mixed, extruded, coloured and flavoured. In our dry type plant, we can conclude the whole process as:
fish feed raw materials crushing (the ingredients used in the feed should be finely ground) — dust collection (the feed must be without fines or dust) — mixing — extrusion (pellets should be firm with a water stability of at least 30 minutes)– drying — oil coating — cooling — finished products packing.
By these processes, a wide variety of ingredients can be prepared into a standardized product.
We all know that floating feed provides an added advantage in that the farmer not only knows when the fish have started feeding, but the farmer will know when the fish have stopped feeding. Therefore our dry type single screw fish feed production plant is the best choice for new starters/green hands in aquaculture, no need to worry about lacking of farming experience.
Equipment Installed/Erected in the Plant:
Crusher: Hammer grinding machine used for processing fish feed raw materials into small pieces with proper sizes to help further process.
Mixer: Fish feed mixer is often used as a cooker to dry fish wastes and to blend various types of fish meal into a standardized product. The by-products and supplementary dry ingredients are mixed using this mixer at a low speed for minutes for extrudable dough.
Fish Feed Pellet Extruder: DSP70 dry type extruder to produce qualified/uniform-sized feed pellets: the higher the quality of feed that is used, the less wasted feed and the easier it is to manage pond water quality.

Oil Coating Machine: fish feed coater is used to increase the palatability of fish feed pellets, by coating the performed pellets with a coating containing fish oil and alginate, and forming a firm surface that is soft and flexible and which will not readily disintegrate either when dry or in water.
Cooler: Cooling is one of the most important post-processing operations in the production of extruded aquatic feed pellets. Therefore, after drying, Proper cooling is required to lower pellet temperature. The economic counterflow cooler is used to provide precise moisture and temperature control in the cooling of pellets, flakes and meal etc. to meet different cooling needs.
Feed Pellet Packager: feed that is going to be sold or stored for a longer period must be bagged (25kg/bag, usually) in sealed plastic or paper bags with proper labelling.
